Job summary

Carteret House seeks an experienced Dietary Manager to oversee day-to-day food service operations, ensuring meals meet dietary requirements, quality standards, and health regulations. You will lead the dietary team and drive continuous improvement in dining services for residents.

Collaborate with clinical staff to plan nutritious menus, accommodate special diets, manage inventory and budgeting, and promote a safe, engaging dining experience that supports residents’ well‑being.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in food service management, nutrition, or a related field (preferred).
  • Certification as a Dietary Manager (CDM) or eligibility for certification (required).
  • 2+ years of experience in food service management, preferably in a healthcare or senior living environment.
  • Strong knowledge of nutrition standards, food safety regulations, and dietary requirements.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the dietary team, including cooks, aides, and nutrition staff; provide training, mentorship, and performance management.

  • Ensure all food service operations adhere to local, state, and federal regulations; maintain safe food handling practices and conduct regular kitchen inspections.
  • Manage food inventory and ordering; maintain cost control to meet budgetary guidelines while ensuring quality service.
  • Promote a safe, sanitary kitchen environment; ensure proper storage and handling of food, maintaining cleanliness.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to monitor and ensure the quality of meals served aligns with residents’ health needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
