Job summary

Campbell Street in Guthrie Center, IA seeks a Dietary Services Manager to provide nourishing meals and exceptional service while supervising staff and ensuring sanitary operations.

You will work with an interdisciplinary team to plan menus, manage the dietary budget, and train staff to deliver timely, nutritious meals that support residents’ health and well‑being.

Qualifications

• Candidate must be at least sixteen years old.
• Must have a high school diploma or be in school.
• Food Sanitation Certification required.
• Dietary Manager Certification (CDM, CFPP) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and supervise dietary staff activities.
• Ensure safe, sanitary operation following regulations and policies.
• Plan meals ahead to minimize substitutions.
• Collaborate with facility dietitian to meet nutritional needs.
• Order supplies and manage kitchen inventory within budget.
• Train and develop staff; provide coaching and disciplinary action as needed.

POSITION PURPOSE:

To provide an efficient, exceptional dining experience with first-class customer service. In keeping with our organization’s goal of improving the lives of the residents we serve; the Dietary Services Manager position is responsible for providing nourishing food to residents under sanitary conditions and in accordance with established policies and procedures. The Dietary Services Manager manages the day-to-day operations of the dietary department by ordering food supplies, providing supervision of staff and working with the interdisciplinary team to ensure quality nutritional meals are delivered on time

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:

• Plans, directs, and supervises the activities of the dietary staff.
• Operates the dietary department in a safe and sanitary manner by ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations and following established policies and procedures.
• Plans meals far enough ahead to minimize the need for food substations.
• Works closely with facility dietitian to ensure meals meet the nutritional needs of the Guests.
• Ensures food supplies are appropriate and places orders when necessary.
• Oversees food tray line to ensure trays are prepared according to diet cards in an efficient manner to meet scheduled meal and snack times.
• Responsible for operating the Dietary Department within budgetary guidelines and limitations.
• Completes annual performance reviews of all subordinate staff. Provides guidance and education to staff regarding their performance.
• Responsible for training and educating staff members.
• Provides counseling and disciplinary action to subordinate staff members as needed.
• Follow established safety precautions when preforming tasks and using equipment and supplies.
• Report all hazardous conditions and equipment along with any accidents/incidents to the Dietary director.
• Must answer and respond to call lights promptly and courteously when working in Guest care areas.
• Attend and participate in meetings and in-services as directed or scheduled.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position supervises Cooks, Dietary Aides, and other Dietary Staff.
