Job summary

Campbell Street in Norwalk, IA is seeking a Dietary Aide to provide an efficient, exceptional dining experience and first-class customer service to residents during scheduled meals.

You will assist with meal service, prepare beverages, maintain cleanliness, monitor temperatures, and help ensure safety of food and equipment per procedures. Candidates must be at least 16, have a high school diploma or be in school, and demonstrate clear English communication.

Qualifications

• Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent, or be in school.
• Able to read, write, understand and communicate in English at a minimum of 8th grade proficiency.
• Possesses clear verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Removes soiled dishes from previous shifts and leftovers.
• Prepare milk pitchers and cold juices; provide ice water.
• Refill salt, pepper, and sugar shakers as needed.
• Help serve meals and fill drink glasses.
• Clean counters, pick up dishes and utensils, and wipe tabletops.
• Return soiled items to kitchen and operate the dishwashing area.

POSITION PURPOSE

To Provide an efficient, exceptional dining experience with first-class customer service. As a Dietary Aide you will assist residents during scheduled mealtimes. Dietary aides ensure residents receive the high standard of care by providing the appropriate items for each meal in accordance to their dietary needs, ensuring the safety of food and equipment by recording temperatures, and ensuring the kitchen and dietary equipment is clean and sanitized. Our residents will depend on your knowledge, skills, and attention to detail to ensure they are comfortable and safe.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION

• Removes soiled dishes from pervious shifts that were leftover.
• Prepares/provides ice water according to the established procedure.
• Refills salt, pepper, and sugar shakers whenever necessary.
• Prepare milk pitchers and cold juices.
• Help serve meals.
• Fills drink glasses for meal service.
• Cleans off counters, picks up dishes and utensils and cleans tabletops.
• Returns soiled dishes and utensils to kitchen and loads dishwashing machine.
• Pick up paper and trash from floor.
• Check the supply of coffee cups at service window and replenish when needed.
• Check windows, ledges, sills, refrigerator, milk cooler, ice machine, coffee urn and tables for cleanliness. Follow cleaning schedule by checking each day for job assignment in routine cleaning.
• Ability to maintain a pleasant attitude towards residents, staff, visitors and co-workers.
• Willing to develop self toward better performance and changing work habits as position demands.
• Respect Residents’ Rights and comply with Adult Abuse Policy.
• Comply with laws regulating Protected Health Information
• Other duties as assigned by Dietary Manager/Head Cook/Administrator.
