Job summary

Mission Valley Post Acute is seeking a dependable Dietary Cook to join our team in Fremont. In this full-time role, you will prepare nutritious meals for residents, following approved menus and dietary guidelines while maintaining safety and quality.

You will work AM and PM shifts, collaborate with the dietary staff, and help ensure meals meet individual dietary needs. A Food Handler's Certification is preferred or must be obtainable upon hire.

Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare or institutional cooking preferred.
• Knowledge of therapeutic and modified diets is a plus.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Strong attention to detail and organization.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals according to approved menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines.
• Ensure meals meet residents' nutritional needs and physician-ordered diets.
• Modify meals to accommodate special dietary needs, including diabetic, low-sodium, and texture-modified diets.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, infection control, and workplace safety requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen.
• Properly store, label, and rotate food items to maintain freshness and comply with food safety standards.
• Assist with inventory and communicate food and supply needs to dietary leadership.
• Support meal service and ensure proper portion sizes and presentation.
• Work collaboratively with dietary staff, nursing, and other members of the care team.
• Help ensure residents receive meals that are nutritious, appealing, and prepared according to their individual needs.
