Job summary

Mission Valley Post Acute in Mission Valley, CA, is seeking a dependable Dietary Cook for a part-time role. You will prepare nutritious meals, follow approved menus and dietary guidelines, and support a collaborative dietary team to deliver quality dining experiences for residents.

This role requires prior healthcare kitchen experience or willingness to obtain a Food Handler’s Certification, strong attention to detail and reliability.

Qualifications

• Healthcare kitchen experience or similar setting preferred.
• Knowledge of therapeutic and modified diets is a plus.
• Current Food Handler’s Certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines.
• Ensure meals meet residents’ nutritional needs and physician-ordered diets.
• Modify meals to accommodate special dietary needs (diabetic, low-sodium, texture-modified).
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, infection control, and workplace safety requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen.
• Properly store, label, and rotate food items to maintain freshness and comply with safety standards.
• Assist with inventory and communicate needs to dietary leadership.
• Support meal service and ensure proper portion sizes and presentation.
• Collaborate with dietary staff, nursing, and care-team members.
