Job summary

Generations Healthcare's Walnut Creek facility is seeking a Dietary Cook to join our team. This full-time position offers Mon-Fri 5:00am–1:30pm with some weekends as needed, and a pay rate of $20–$22 per hour depending on experience.

Responsibilities include preparing meals from planned menus, accommodating therapeutic diets, coordinating with the dietitian, following established food procedures, supervising staff in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor, maintaining clean work and storage

Qualifications

• Ability to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
• Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to deal tactfully with residents, families, visitors, and staff.
• Knowledge of food procedures.

• Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus.
• Prepare and serve meals that are appetizing in appearance.
• Prepare food for therapeutic diets per planned menus and special diet orders.
• Coordinate food service with other departments as necessary.
• Work with the facility’s dietitian and implement recommended changes.
• Demonstrate safe food handling procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness of work and storage areas.
• Supervise dietary staff in the absence of Dietary Supervisor.

$20-$22/hour depending on experience

Walnut Creek Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, a Generations Healthcare facility, is in search of a Dietary Cook to join our team.

Job Description:

• Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submit to the Director of Food Services.
• Coordinate food service with other departments as necessary.
• Work with the facility’s dietitian as necessary and implement recommended changes as required.
• Ensure that all food procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
• Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus.
• Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
• Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
• Prepare food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menus.
• Prepare food in accordance with standardized recipes and special diet orders.
• Prepare meals according to resident food preferences and special dietary requirement.
• Assist in the production of all menu items.
• Demonstrate safe food handling procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness of work and storage areas.
• Supervise dietary staff in the absence of Dietary Supervisor
