Job description

Dietary Cook

Join our team as a Dietary Cook, where dining is an essential part of life. At Vancrest, we aim to provide the highest quality dining experience and ensure residents receive the most nutritious diets.

Responsibilities include:

1. Review menus prior to food preparation.
2. Inspect special diet trays for accuracy.
3. Complete administrative tasks such as forms and reports, and submit them to the Director of Food Services.
4. Coordinate dietary services with other departments as needed.
5. Work with the facility's Dietitian, Dietetic Technician, and other supervisors, implementing recommended changes.
6. Ensure all dietary procedures follow established policies.
7. Assist in setting up the food service production line to ensure timely meal preparation.
8. Process diet changes and new diets received from Nursing Services, with approval from the Director of Food Service.
9. Perform dishwashing and cleaning procedures, ensuring utensils are available for the next meal.
10. Assist in inventorying and storing incoming food and supplies.
11. Cooks are supervised by the Dietary Manager.
