Job summary

The Waters of Kingsport is hiring Dietary Cooks to join our caring dining team. You will help prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner for residents, following menus and dietary requirements while maintaining safety and quality.

We welcome both experienced cooks and those eager to grow in a rewarding healthcare setting. Multiple full-time and part-time positions are available, with respectful teamwork and resident-focused service at the heart of daily duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least one year of dietary experience in a hospital or nursing facility preferred, but NOT required.
• Able to prepare a variety of foods in large quantities.
• Knowledge of dietary procedures and food service practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare nutritious meals according to established menus and dietary requirements.
• Prepare food in large quantities while maintaining quality, taste, and presentation.
• Follow special dietary restrictions and provide appropriate meal alternatives as needed.
• Maintain proper food preparation, sanitation, and hygiene practices.
• Follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
• Keep the kitchen and food preparation areas clean, safe, and organized.
• Work cooperatively with dietary staff and other healthcare team members.
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with coworkers, residents, and others.
• Protect resident confidentiality and respect each individual's privacy.
• Demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, and professionalism.
• Help create a welcoming, enjoyable, and resident-focused dining experience.

About the Position

As a Dietary Cook at The Waters of Kingsport, you will play an important role in supporting our residents' health, well-being, and quality of life. You will prepare and assist with breakfast, lunch, and dinner while following established menus, dietary requirements, and individual resident needs.

What We're Looking For

• Previous cooking experience; institutional or healthcare cooking experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and hygienic practices.
• A genuine desire to serve older adults and individuals who may need assistance with daily living.
• The ability to work respectfully with people who have different personalities, needs, and levels of independence.
• The ability to follow verbal and written directions.
• Good judgment, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
• A courteous, empathetic, and professional attitude.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
• A professional appearance and demeanor.
• Reliable transportation and the ability to meet scheduling requirements.

Education & Experience
