Job summary

Mayfield Heights Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking a part-time Dietary Cook to join our team. Read menus, prepare high-quality meals, and follow safety and sanitation guidelines in Ohio's health-care setting.

Responsibilities include temperature logging, quality control, tray delivery, and supporting the department's operations. HS Diploma and a Level Two Food Protection Certification (or within 90 days) are required; prior long-term care food service experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent is required or accepted in lieu of formal training.
• Hold a Level Two Person in Charge Food Protection Certification or obtain within 90 days.
• One year of high-volume food service or high-quantity cooking experience.
• Basic food preparation and cooking methods understanding.
• Culinary certification or equivalent coursework completed or pre-referred.
• Experience in long-term health care food service is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cook and prepare meals reading menus and recipes, following schedules and supervisor instructions.
• Adhere to Ohio safety, sanitation, and quality guidelines.
• Record food temperatures, taste panels, and waste in logs as part of QC procedures.
• Support efficient operations within the Food Services Department.
• Deliver and retrieve food trays to patient rooms as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Efficiently and accurately perform cooking and food preparation assignments that result in consistent, high-quality products, including reading menus, recipes, and work schedules to be used for production; checking with the appropriate supervisor for menu changes and special instructions.
• Complies with all safety, sanitation, and quality control guidelines for the state of Ohio.
• Participates in quality control procedures, including recording information on food temperatures, taste panels, and waste into the appropriate logs.
• Supports efficient operations throughout the Food Services Department.
• Delivers and/or retrieves food trays from patient rooms on an as-needed basis for pre-identified locations.
• Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Possess a Level Two Person in Charge Food Protection Certification from an Ohio Department of Health approved issuing body (i.e. ServSafe, etc.), OR obtains within 90 days of hire.
  • One year of experience in high-volume food service and/or high-quantity food production cooking.
  • Understanding of basic food preparation and cooking methods.
  • Completion of an accepted culinary certification, OR proof of completing culinary coursework pre-referred.
  • Previous experience in long-term health care food service preferred

Schedule:

• Full-time and part-time available
• Overtime
• Weekend availability
