Job summary

Arbor Hills, a Generations Healthcare facility in La Mesa, CA, seeks a Dietary Cook with healthcare experience to join our dining services team. The role involves preparing meals, following planned menus, and ensuring safety, quality, and resident satisfaction.

You will coordinate with the dietitian and other departments, maintain clean work areas, and assist in supervising dietary staff when the Dietary Supervisor is absent. Wage: $18-$22 DOE.

Qualifications

• Ability to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
• Able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to interact tactfully with residents, families, staff and the public.
• Knowledge of standard food procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all food functions per policies and procedures.
• Coordinate food service with other departments as necessary.
• Work with the facility dietitian and implement recommended changes as required.
• Follow established food procedures and planned menus.
• Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus.
• Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
• Serve food according to portion control procedures.
• Prepare food for therapeutic diets per planned menus and orders.
• Prepare meals according to standardized recipes and special diet orders.
• Prepare meals according to resident food preferences and dietary requirements.
• Assist in the production of all menu items.
• Demonstrate safe food handling procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness of work and storage areas.
• Supervise dietary staff in the absence of Dietary Supervisor

Job Description

The primary role of the Dietary Cook is to provide assistance in all food functions as directed/instructed and in accordance with established food policies and procedures.

• Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submit to the Director of Food Services.
• Coordinate food service with other departments as necessary.
• Work with the facility’s dietitian as necessary and implement recommended changes as required.
• Ensure that all food procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
• Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus.
• Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
• Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
• Prepare food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menus.
• Prepare food in accordance with standardized recipes and special diet orders.
