Job summary

Alexandria Health and Rehabilitation seeks Dietary Assistants to join our health care team. You will assist in preparing, serving and delivering meals, while helping with cleaning duties and maintaining dining areas.

You will verify tray accuracy and diet preferences for residents and help with inventory and storage of food and supplies. The role requires reading and writing skills, good communication with residents and staff, and the physical ability to stand, bend, and lift as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write; follow oral and written directions.
• Must be able to communicate with residents, families, personnel and support agencies.
• Must stand for long periods, bend, and perform heavy lifting as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation, service and delivery of meals and snacks.
• Assist in daily or scheduled cleaning of work areas, tables, appliances and floors.
• Assist in dish and utensil washing and cleaning; collect soiled items from carts and dining areas.
• Distribute and collect menus and check trays for completion and accuracy of diets.
• Assist in inventorying and storing incoming foods, supplies and equipment.
