Job summary

Aspire, Inc. in Aberdeen, SD seeks a Dietary Assistant to support the meal service program at our central kitchen. You will assist with meal preparation, kitchen sanitation, food service, and dishwashing, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment while following diet orders.

Weekday meal preparation and related paperwork, plus ongoing training and orientation for people supported, are included. Extensive training is provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum of High School diploma or GED.
• Previous food service, kitchen, dietary, housekeeping, or related experience preferred.
• Must successfully complete ServSafe Certification.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass agency driver training.
• Must follow recipes, calculate measurements and diet orders.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation and kitchen sanitation.
• Deliver food service and dishwashing while maintaining a clean, safe kitchen.
• Follow approved menus and diet orders to prepare weekday meals.
• Complete paperwork for food orders and meal counts.
• Provide orientation and ongoing staff development in the Dietary Department.
• Participate in performance evaluations of people supported.

Job description

The Dietary Assistant supports coordinating and delivering the meal service program for Aspires’ central kitchen. This position assists with meal preparation, kitchen sanitation, food service, dishwashing, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. Ensures services are delivered in an efficient manner as determined by the service team, using an interdisciplinary approach.

• Kneel, squat, twist, crouch, crawl, bend, stand and walk for long periods of time
• Lift/carry up to 50 pounds
• Push or pull (groceries, supplies, etc.)
• Assist people that are not able to move on their own
  (wheelchair to chair, floor to chair, chair to vehicle, etc.)
• Perform CPR

Requirements for Employment

• Minimum of High School diploma or GED.
• Previous food service, kitchen, dietary, housekeeping, or related experience preferred. Combination of experience will be taken into consideration.
• Must successfully complete ServSafe Certification.
• Valid drivers license, ability to pass agency driver's training, and insurable under agency insurance policies.
• Must be able to follow a recipe, calculate measurements and follow diet orders.

Extensive training is provided to new employees to enable them to do the best work possible.

Dietary Assistant

This position assists with preparing meals on weekdays in accordance with approved menus and diet orders, as well as completing the appropriate paperwork regarding food orders and meal counts.

This position also provides job specific orientation to people supported, provides ongoing training/staff development, and completes performance evaluations of people supported working in the Dietary Department.
