Job summary

Seton Manor is hiring for Food Service Aide positions (Full-time and Part-time) to assist in meal preparation and service in our kitchen. The role includes transporting trays to nursing units, assembling trays, and maintaining sanitary food prep areas in compliance with regulations.

Under supervision, you will follow infection control policies, use PPE when indicated, and communicate with the Food Service Director as needed to meet residents' needs. Weekend and holiday availability is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares meals, snacks and beverages as assigned.
• Assists in assembling trays, cleaning and storing supplies.
• Cleans food service areas continuously during prep and service.
• Labels nourishment and transports to resident floors.
• Transports trays and carts to/from resident floors.
• Operates equipment per manufacturer instructions; follows cleaning/maintenance schedules.
• Handles, stores and disposes of food supplies per procedures; complies with regulations.
• Follows infection control policies; uses PPE when indicated.
• Communicates with Director of Food Service or Assistant Director as needed.
• Attends in-service education and applies information to tasks.
• Works well with peers in a congenial environment and shows compassion towards residents.
• Able to work every other weekend, and holidays as needed for staffing

Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Food service or the Assistant Food Service Director, the Food Service Aide works in the kitchen assisting in the preparation and service of food and follows a cleaning schedule. The service of food may include the transporting of food trays to the nursing units.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Food Service Aide may be responsible for some and/or all of the following functions some and/or all of the time under the assignment and direction of his/her supervisor.

• Prepares and/or assists in preparation of meals, snacks and beverages.
• Responsible for or assists in assembling trays, cleaning and storage of supplies and equipment.
• Continuously cleans food service work areas as food preparation and service is done.
• Labels nourishment and sends or transports them to resident floors.
• Transporting trays and carts to or from the resident floors.
• Uses all equipment according to manufacturer instructions. Follow proper cleaning techniques and preventative maintenance schedules.
• Handles, stores, and disposes of food supplies and prepares food in accord with department procedures and in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Follows facility policies and procedures for infection control at all times to maintain sanitary preparation and storage areas. Uses personal protective equipment when indicated. Follow facility procedures for resident trays that require special handling.
• Communicates with Director of Food Service or Assistant Director of Food Service throughout shift as needed to best meet needs of residents.
• Attends in-service education as assigned. Applies information to job tasks.
• Must be able to work well with peers in a congenial work environment, and above all, maintain the utmost compassion and dignity to the residents.
• Must be able to work evey other weekend, as well as holidays and as needed, to ensure proper staffing levels.
