Job summary

Torringtonnh is seeking a part-time kitchen assistant to support dining operations. The role runs 10 hours per week from 7a to 12p, focusing on tray assembly, meal service, and basic kitchen sanitation.

Responsibilities include placing food on trays per menu, maintaining proper serving temperatures, and ensuring a clean, sanitary work area and equipment. Training provided on safety, hygiene, and resident nourishment delivery.

• No formal qualifications required.
• Experience in food service is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Places food on trays according to menu and special diet slips.
• Serves food at proper temperature.
• Handles food and equipment in accordance with sanitary practices.
• Cleans work area and equipment such as counters, tray carts, pots, pans, steam tables, coffee urns, stoves, utensils, dishes, floors, mixers, refrigerators, blenders, steamers, etc.
• Performs all steps necessary to ensure dishes, silverware, pots, and pans and kitchen equipment are clean and sanitary.
• Checks dish machine at least once a day to ensure that proper temperatures and chemicals are maintained at a level to sanitize dishes.
• Stores dishes and equipment in proper places.
• Soaks and removes stains from dishes when necessary.
• Stocks or assists with stocking of perishable and non-perishable goods.
• Strips trucks according to instructions, disposing of leftover food in an approved manner.
• Is responsible for washing floors, in walk -in storerooms, and kitchen according to posted schedule.
• Cleans kitchen equipment such as disposal, tables, dishwasher, dish cabinet, and food carts.
• Assists set-up person with the placing of desserts, fluids, etc., on residents' tray.
• Drains and cleans dish machine after each meal.
• Disposes of dish room and kitchen trash.
• Breaks up and discards all boxes.
• Is responsible for checking under stationary objects for cleanliness and informs Food Service Director of areas needing attention.
• Prepares and delivers nourishments to resident's area.
• Bags bread and margarine, dishes desserts and fluids for residents.
