Job summary

King Manor Care and Rehabilitation Center in Neptune City, NJ is seeking a dedicated Dietary Aide to assist with meals and nutrition services. You will perform a variety of food service tasks and help maintain sanitary food service areas and equipment, with the possibility to assist in food preparation as needed.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and understand directions in English.
• Previous Food Service Aide experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Reports at assigned time, in uniform, ready for duty.
• Handles food and equipment according to sanitation policies and procedures.
• Is aware of safety regulations and responsibilities in operating all equipment.
• Delivers food carts, trays to designated areas, including resident rooms and dining room.
• Serve – in dining rooms.
• Prepare and deliver snacks as directed.
• Assists in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Reports any discrepancies in his/her area to department supervisor.
• Ensures residents and families receive high-quality service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere.
• Performs related work as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Food Service Aide performs a variety of food service functions in maintaining clean and sanitary conditions of food service areas, facilities and equipment. He/she may also assist in some aspects of food preparation.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ ACCOUNTABILITLES:

1. 1 Reports at assigned time, in uniform, ready for duty;
2. 2 Handles food and equipment according to sanitation policies and procedures;
3. 3 Is aware of safety regulations and responsibilities in operating all equipment;
4. 4 Delivers food carts, trays, etc. to designated areas, including resident rooms and dining room, as instructed by supervisor;
5. 5 Serve – in dining rooms;
6. 6 Prepare and deliver snacks as directed;
7. 7 Assists in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures;
8. 8 Reports any discrepancies in his/her area to department supervisor;
9. 9 Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights;
10. 10 Performs related work as assigned.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/ VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. 1 Ability to read, write, and understand directions in English language. Previous Food Service Aide experience is helpful.

JOB SKILLS:

1. 1 Working knowledge of the methods and techniques of handling and serving food.
2. 2 Working knowledge of sanitation practices relating to food handling.
3. 3 Ability to follow diet lists, portion food as specified and serve food in an appetizing manner.
4. 4 Possess the ability to positively interact with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
5. 5 Ability to read, write, speak and follow written and oral directions in the English language.
6. 6 Provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.

PERFORMS RELATED DUTIES:

1. 1 Interacts with residents, families, visitors and employees.
2. 2 Carries out other tasks as requested in situations where hands‑on intervention/participation may be required.
