Job summary

Apploi is hiring for a Food Service Aide in the United States, with both full-time and part-time positions available. The role reports to the Director or Assistant Director of Food Service and involves assisting in meal preparation and serving, as well as following a cleaning schedule to support resident nutrition and well-being.

The ideal candidate will help transport food trays to nursing units, label nourishment, and ensure sanitary conditions according to state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and assists in meal, snack, and beverage preparation.
• Assembles trays, cleans and stores supplies and equipment.
• Continuously cleans food service work areas during service.
• Labels nourishment and transports them to resident floors.
• Transports trays and carts to/from resident floors.
• Operates equipment per manufacturer instructions and follows cleaning methods.
• Handles, stores, and disposes of food, complying with procedures and regulations.
• Follows infection control policies; uses PPE as required and handles special trays appropriately.
• Communicates with Director or Assistant Director of Food Service as needed.
• Attends in-service education and applies information to tasks.
• Works well with team, maintaining compassion and dignity for residents.
• Willing to work every other weekend, holidays, and as needed to ensure staffing.

Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Food service or the Assistant Food Service Director, the Food Service Aide works in the kitchen assisting in the preparation and service of food and follows a cleaning schedule. The service of food may include the transporting of food trays to the nursing units.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepares and/or assists in preparation of meals, snacks and beverages.
• Responsible for or assists in assembling trays, cleaning and storage of supplies and equipment.
• Continuously cleans food service work areas as food preparation and service is done.
• Labels nourishment and sends or transports them to resident floors.
• Transporting trays and carts to or from the resident floors.
• Uses all equipment according to manufacturer instructions. Follow proper cleaning techniques and preventative maintenance schedules.
• Handles, stores, and disposes of food supplies and prepares food in accord with department procedures and in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Follows facility policies and procedures for infection control at all times to maintain sanitary preparation and storage areas. Uses personal protective equipment when indicated. Follow facility procedures for resident trays that require special handling.
• Communicates with Director of Food Service or Assistant Director of Food Service throughout shift as needed to best meet needs of residents.
• Attends in-service education as assigned. Applies information to job tasks.
• Must be able to work well with peers in a congenial work environment, and above all, maintain the utmost compassion and dignity to the residents.
• Must be able to work evey other weekend, as well as holidays and as needed, to ensure proper staffing levels.
