Job summary

South Peninsula Hospital in Homer, Alaska is seeking a Dietary Aide/Host/Hostess for a per diem role to support patients across Acute Care and Long Term Care units. You will prepare and deliver meals per diet orders, follow menus, and maintain sanitation in kitchen and service areas.

This position requires a high school diploma or GED, physical stamina, and strong communication skills. Alaska Food Worker’s Card must be obtained within 30 days of hire; a 15% premium is offered in lieu of benefits

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior foodservice experience preferred, but not required.
• Must obtain a State of Alaska Food Worker’s Card within 30 days of hire.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding role, including lifting heavy objects.
• Strong personal hygiene and professional appearance.
• Ability to follow diet orders and procedures with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Physical Requirement: Must be able to lift heavy items, work on feet for extended periods, and handle frequent physical activity.

ENVIRONMENT

The South Peninsula Hospital is a combined 22-bed Acute Care Critical Access Hospital and 28-bed Long Term Care facility located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula in South-Central Alaska. The Dietary Aide/Host/Hostess works in both kitchen and patient care areas, and may be exposed to food, steam, grease, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures.

Hazards include risk of cuts, falls, burns, back strain, and exposure to sharps and bodily fluids. This position includes rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and early or late hours.
