Job summary

Prairie Mountain Health seeks a part-time Dietary Aide (Nutrition Services) at Brandon Regional Health Centre. Under supervision, you assist in food service, ensure proper diets, and maintain sanitary food prep areas.

You will help with meal assembly, tray delivery, and cashier duties in a hospital setting. The role emphasizes portion control, temperature checks, and collaboration with the Nutrition Services team.

Qualifications

• Grade 10 (Manitoba Standards).
• Current Food Handler Training Certificate Level 1 or willing to obtain within six months.
• Other combinations of education and experience will be considered.
• Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), Internet applications and other IT.
• Demonstrated dexterity, speed, and efficient work methods.
• Demonstrated organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures.
• Ability to display independent judgment.

Responsibilities

• Assists in training and/or orientation of Nutrition Services staff and students.
• Ensures familiarity with all diets, reference materials, and technical terms used in Nutrition Services.
• Adheres to the approved menu and therapeutic guidelines regarding preparation and serving of diets.
• Makes changes to client menus as directed in consultation with supervisor/manager/Registered Dietitian.
• Assists with food preparation (toast, cereals, nourishments, salads, cold prep, sandwiches, desserts, beverages).
• Assembles/serves meals to clients per portion standards.
• Delivers food carts/trays and collects soiled trays/dishes.
• Sets, clears, cleans and sanitizes dining room tables.
• Prepares and delivers items for catered functions.
• Performs cashier function.
• Washes dishes and utensils; maintains sanitation standards.
• Keeps Nutrition Services areas and equipment clean per schedules.
• Follows safe work procedures for equipment/tasks.
