Job summary

The Gardens at Aldersgate in Topeka, KS is seeking a full-time dietary aide for the day shift (6:00 AM–2:30 PM). You will assist in meal preparation, service, and cleanup for patients, residents, and staff in the nursing center and at events.

Duties include supporting the cook, labeling nourishments, portioning desserts and salads, and following production sheets. Qualifications emphasize good communication, English literacy, sanitation, and prior food service or long-term care experience.

Qualifications

• The dietary aide candidate will have good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and understand English for business necessity.
• Basic understanding of sanitation, organization and safety.
• Prior experience in food service preferred.
• Prior experience in long-term care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists cook as directed by the food service director.
• Prepares and labels nourishments according to center procedures.
• Prepares and portions desserts, salads and other non-entrée foods into dishes; pours beverages.
• Follows production sheets and pre-preparation sheets or guidelines when appropriate.
