Job summary

Alden Terrace of McHenry Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in McHenry, IL is seeking a dietary assistant to support daily dietary operations for residents. You will assist with meal preparation, serving, tray loading, and ensuring food safety and portion control in a caring environment.

The role emphasizes following policies, communicating with residents and staff, and maintaining a clean, organized kitchen and dining area while supporting therapeutic diets when required.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• One year dietary experience preferred but not required.
• Must read, write, and speak English clearly.
• Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to deal tactfully with residents, family, visitors and staff.
• Ability to work harmoniously with other personnel.
• Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm.

Responsibilities

• Follow dietary procedures in line with policies.
• Assist in menu extensions and meal service as scheduled.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in work areas and equipment.
• Suggest equipment and supply needs to supervisor.
• Assist in arranging diet cards and loading trays on carts.
• Deliver food carts to designated areas and remove trays.
• Prepare foods per standardized recipes and special diets.
• Report accidents or hazardous conditions to supervisor.
• Attend staff meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
