Job summary

Temecula Valley Hospital (TVH), part of Southwest Healthcare, seeks an entry level Dietary Aide Assistant to support patient meals, answer phones, assist patients and guests with meal orders via computer entry, and help in kitchen areas with tray assembly and cleaning. Ideal candidates are computer-literate, able to multitask and provide exceptional customer service.

Two years of acute care food service experience is preferred; DSS or Diet Tech certification preferred; ServSafe or health

Qualifications

• At least two years food service experience in an acute care facility preferred.
• DSS certification or Diet Tech certification preferred.
• Certification in Food Service Sanitation by the Department of Health (Riverside County) and/or ServSafe Certification required.
• Prefer strong interest in nutrition or nutrition-related field and/or some college coursework in nutrition completed.

Responsibilities

• Answering phones (high volume) and assisting patients, guests and customers with meal orders.
• Assist in kitchen areas with meal tray assembly, prep areas and daily cleaning.
• Operate basic food service equipment and maintain sanitary practices.
• Understand modified diet restrictions and assist in daily kitchen operations.

Dietary Aide Assistant

Entry level position. Duties to include answering phones (high volume), assisting patients, guests and customers place meal orders via computer order entry program, Must befamiliar with computers, multi-tasking and exceptional customer service. Other duties to include assisting in the kitchen areas with meal tray assembly, prep areas and daily cleaning assignments.

Essential Job Duties

• Ability to understand modified diet restrictions, operate food service equipment, operate computer hardware and software systems and perform simple math.
• Be knowledgeable of daily kitchen operations, safe food handling techniques and sanitary food preparation skills.
• Ability to instruct and supervise the work performance of others.
• Ability to make decisions and to adapt to changes.
