New Hanover House is seeking a compassionate Dietary Aide to join our culinary team in Wilmington, NC. You will assist in preparing, portioning, and serving nutritious meals while upholding safety and cleanliness standards.

Responsibilities include supporting residents during meals, ensuring a positive dining experience, and collaborating with the dietary team to manage inventory and special dietary requests.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices is required.
• Ability to follow directions and work efficiently as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Meal Preparation: Help prepare, portion, and serve meals according to dietary plans and requests.
• Sanitation & Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas; wash dishes and equipment.
• Resident Support: Assist residents with meals and ensure a positive dining experience.
• Food Safety: Follow all food safety protocols for storage, handling, and sanitation.
• Inventory Support: Receive, store, and monitor food and supplies; notify Dietary Manager of shortages.
• Team Collaboration: Work with the dietary team to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
• Resident Engagement: Fulfill special dietary requests and respect residents' preferences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Meal Assistance: Help prepare, portion, and serve meals to residents according to dietary plans and special requests.
• Sanitation & Cleanliness: Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas. Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed.
• Resident Support: Provide meal assistance to residents as needed, including helping with meal setup and serving, and ensuring a positive dining experience.
• Food Safety: Follow all food safety protocols, including proper food storage, handling, and sanitation practices, to ensure food is safe for consumption.
• Inventory Support: Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies, checking inventory, and notifying the Dietary Manager of any shortages or supply needs.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with the dietary team to ensure the kitchen and dining areas run smoothly, assisting with food prep and meal service as directed.
• Resident Engagement: Assist in fulfilling special dietary requests and ensuring residents’ individual preferences and needs are met during meal times.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required)
• Previous experience in a food service role (preferred, but not required)
• Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
• Ability to follow directions and work efficiently as part of a team
