Job summary

Nexus of Westmont is seeking a Dietary Aide to support the Dietary Department with meal preparation, service, and sanitation. You will assist the Cook, follow recipes and diet orders, and help ensure timely meals for residents.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, adaptability, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment, with focus on safety, cleanliness, and residents’ dining experience.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate and previous institutional dietary service experience is preferred.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow recipe directions, diet orders, tray cards, and work assignments.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Numerical accountability is necessary for recipe preparation and proper measuring of cleaning agents and chemicals.

Responsibilities

  • Perform defined work routines, using various dietary utensils, supplies, and equipment as assigned by the Dietary Manager.
  • Provide assistance to the Cook in the preparation and service of meals.
  • Meet scheduled meal and snack times.
  • Follow Federal and State long-term care regulations and Dietary Department Policy and Procedures.
  • Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled.
  • Assist in arranging tray cards, loading food carts, and serving meals.
  • Set up the dining room and serve the residents.
  • Wash and store dishes.

As a Dietary Aide with our dynamic team, you will be responsible for performing designated work and cleaning routines for the Dietary Department. You will be accountable to the Dietary Manager and in their absence, the Cook.

About the Role:

The Dietary Aide will be responsible for:

  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Show willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions. Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to Detail: Provide accurate and precise work, ensuring high-quality food preparation and presentation.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Work cooperatively with the Cook and other team members to ensure seamless meal service.
  • Attention to Sanitation and Safety: Maintain the highest standards of sanitation and safe work environment.
