Job description

Reports to: Dietary Director

Job Type: Part Time

Full Wage Range: $16.28 to $20.00

General Purpose

The dietary aide's assignments are determined based on the needs of the shift activity. He/she reports to the Cook and Dietary Supervisor.

Essential Duties

• Learn food service routines quickly.
• Set up meal trays and strip down returned trays.
• Wash dishes and operate dishwashers.
• Assist with serving meals.
• Check and record chlorine concentration and water temperature of dishwashing machines at the start of shifts.
• Prepare nourishments and snacks.
• Maintain cleanliness by sweeping, mopping, cleaning work surfaces, refrigerators, and disposing of trash.
• Put groceries away safely and orderly.
• Ensure the kitchen is clean and sanitary, assisting as needed.
• Participate in staff orientation and ongoing training.
• Work cooperatively with personnel across departments.

Skills and Abilities

• Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
• Solve practical problems and interpret instructions in various formats.
• Obtain and maintain a food handler's certificate.

Physical Demands

This position requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling. Lifting up to 50 pounds frequently. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Good visual perception, including focus adjustment.

Additional Information
