Job description

Wage and Reporting Structure

Wage: $16.28-$20.00 per hour, depending on experience and education.
Reports to: Dietary Director
Type: Full Time

General Purpose

The dietary aide's assignments are determined based on the activity of the shift and needs. The aide reports to the Cook and Dietary Supervisor.

Essential Duties

1. Learn food service routines quickly.
2. Set up meal trays.
3. Strip down returned trays and wash dishes.
4. Assist with serving meals.
5. Check and record water temperature and chlorine concentration of the dishwashing machine at the start of each shift.
6. Monitor water temperatures during dishwashing cycles.
7. Operate the dishwasher.
8. Prepare nourishments and snacks.
9. Sweep and mop the kitchen.
10. Handle trash and garbage.
11. Store groceries safely and neatly.
12. Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment and assist when needed.
13. Clean work surfaces and refrigerators.
14. Participate in orientation and ongoing training.
15. Work cooperatively with personnel across departments.

Supervisory Requirements

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read technical procedures and recipes.
• Effective communication skills with managers and staff.

Skills and Certifications

• Mathematical skills: applying fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
• Reasoning skills: solving practical problems and interpreting instructions.
• Must obtain and maintain a food handler's certificate.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing, tasting, smelling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
