Job summary

Susanna Wesley Health Center in Florida is hiring a Food Service Aide to support daily dining operations for residents. You will assemble trays, portion meals, prepare serving areas, and ensure sanitation and safety standards are followed at all times.

• 1. Ensures residents are treated with dignity, kindness and respect while maintaining privacy and confidentiality.
• 2. Develops good rapport with facility staff to meet residents' needs.
• 3. Works with the facility Dietitian as needed and implements recommendations.
• 4. Assembles residents' trays according to menus.
• 5. Prepares serving areas with cold foods, condiments, dishes and utensils.
• 6. Allocates portions based on diet orders and preferences.
• 7. Serves in the dining area as needed.
• 8. Stores and labels food items per policy.
• 9. Maintains sanitation and proper food handling.
• 10. Keeps department clean and orderly.
• 11. Follows dietary procedures per policies.
• 12. Disposes of food and waste per policy.
• 13. Reports hazards/equipment to the Director of Food Services.
• 14. Reports accidents/incidents per procedures.
• 15. Wears protective clothing as needed.
• 16. Ensures food and supplies for next meals are available.
• 17. Assists in inventory and storage of food and supplies.
• 18. Assists in food preparation for special meals and events.
• 19. Attends ongoing inservice and training.
• 20. Washes and sanitizes dishes and utensils.
• 21. Stores clean dishes and utensils properly.
• 22. Performs tasks per posted cleaning schedules.
• 23. Rotates and replenishes stock in storage areas.
• 24. Disposes of refuse per policy.
• 25. Loads/transports tray carts to/from service area.
• 26. Maintains hazard-free and tidy work areas and cleans equipment before leaving.
• 27. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB.

1. Ensures that residents are treated with dignity, kindness and respect, maintains residents’ privacy and confidentiality and adheres to resident’s bill of rights at all times.

2. Develops and maintains a good working rapport with all personnel within the facility to ensure that residents’ needs are met.

3. Works with the facility Dietitian as needed and implements recommended changes as required.

4. Assembles residents’ trays according to menus.

5. Prepares serving areas with cold foods, condiments, serving containers, dishes, flatware, etc.

6. Apportions food items based on diet order and residents’ preferences.

7. Serves the residents’ dining area as needed.

8. Stores and labels food items in accordance with company policy.

9. Maintains standards of sanitation and food handling at all times.

10. Maintains a sanitary, neat and orderly department and work area.

11. Follows all dietary procedures in accordance with established policies.

12. Disposes of food and waste in accordance with established policies.

13. Reports all hazardous conditions/equipment to the Director of Food Services immediately.

14. Reports all accidents/incidents in accordance with established procedures.

15. Wears protective clothing as needed.

16. Ensures that food and supplies for the next meal are readily available.

17. Assists in the inventory and storage of in-coming food and supplies.

18. Assists in food preparation for special meals, parties, etc.

19. Attends ongoing Inservice and training programs as needed.

20. Washes and sanitizes dishes, flatware, pots and pans.

21. Stores clean dishes, flatware, pots and pans in appropriate areas.

22. Performs tasks according to posted cleaning schedules.

23. Rotates and replenishes stock in food storage areas.

24. Disposes of refuse according to established policies.

25. Loads and transports tray carts to and from service area.

26. Maintains work/assignments areas free of hazardous conditions, clean and orderly and properly cleans and stores equipment prior to leaving such work area.

27. Performs other duties as assigned.
