Job summary

Brighton Place West Healthcare & Rehab Center in Topeka, Kansas is seeking a Dietary Aide to support meals for patients and staff during daily service and special events.

You will assist cooks, prepare nourishments, desserts, salads and beverages, follow production sheets and guidelines, and help with labeling and portioning as needed.

This role rewards clear communication, sanitation and safety basics, and prior food service or long-term care experience, with opportunities for career advancement.

Qualifications

• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and understand English for business necessity.
• Basic understanding of sanitation, organization and safety.
• Prior experience in food service preferred.
• Prior experience in long-term care preferred.
• Career advancement program for Cooks or Certified Dietary Managers in healthcare.

Dietary Aide:

Performs a variety of tasks usually not requiring cooking skills in the preparation, service, and clean up for meals served to patients and staff in the nursing center and other special events.

GENERAL DUTIES

• Assists cook as directed by the food service director
• Prepares and labels nourishments according to center procedures
• Prepares and portions desserts, salads and other non-entrée foods into dishes; pours beverages
• Follows production sheets and pre-preparation sheets or guidelines when appropriate

QUALIFICATIONS

• The dietary aide candidate will have good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and understand English for business necessity.
• Basic understanding of sanitation, organization and safety.
• Prior experience in food service preferred.
• Prior experience in long-term care preferred.
