Job summary

Santiam Hospital & Clinics in Stayton, OR is seeking a Dietary Aide for a PRN swing shift (11:00 am–7:30 pm). You will prepare meals, assemble trays for various diets, and help maintain a clean, organized tray line and kitchen area. Strong English skills and teamwork are essential for this role.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare food trays for general, therapeutic diets and special diets; assist with delivery of items to patients.
• Maintain tray line in a clean and orderly manner; ensure cleanliness of dishes and utensils.
• Operate a dishwasher and wash items by hand (pots, pans, knives).
• Dispose of trash and garbage properly; mop floors and clean walk-in refrigerators and storage areas.
• Receive, store, issue, and deliver food, supplies, and equipment; manage calls and take messages.

What You’ll Do

• This is a PRN position or "as needed" for swing shift coverage, 11:00 am- 7:30 pm.
• Prepare food trays for general, therapeutic diets and special diet foods as necessary. Preparation and delivery of food items as requested by patients.
• Responsible for maintaining tray line in a clean and orderly manner and the organization of clean dishes and utensils.
• Ability to operate a dishwasher and wash specified items by hand, i.e., pots, pans, knives.
• Dispose of trash and garbage in an appropriate manner and as needed.
• Mop floors, clean walk-in refrigerators and storage areas as scheduled and as necessary.
• Receive, stores, issues, and delivers necessary food, supplies, and equipment.
• Manage incoming calls, take messages and process phone orders.

Qualifications: What You’ll Need

• Skilled in the proper and safe use, cleaning, and maintenance of standard kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Basic knowledge of the principles and practices of safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene as it relates to food preparation and services.
• Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and have excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
• Current Oregon Food Handler License or obtain within 30 days of hire.
