Job summary

The Gardens of Rose Hill in Rose Hill, NC, is seeking a friendly Dietary Aide to join our culinary team and assist in providing nutritious meals to residents. You will support meal preparation, help with dietary plans, and maintain a clean, welcoming dining area.

Prior food service exposure is welcome but not required; we value compassion, reliability, and teamwork. This on-site role offers opportunities for growth and meaningful resident interaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Previous experience in a food service role (preferred, but not required).
• Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to follow directions and work efficiently as part of a team.
• Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Meal Assistance: Help prepare, portion, and serve meals to residents according to dietary plans and special requests.
• Sanitation & Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas; wash dishes and equipment as needed.
• Resident Support: Assist with meal setup, serving, and ensuring a positive dining experience.
• Food Safety: Follow proper storage, handling, and sanitation practices to keep meals safe.
• Inventory Support: Assist in receiving and storing foods and supplies; report shortages.
• Team Collaboration: Work with dietary team to keep kitchen and dining areas running smoothly.
• Resident Engagement: Accommodate special dietary requests and residents' preferences during meals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Meal Assistance: Help prepare, portion, and serve meals to residents according to dietary plans and special requests.
• Sanitation & Cleanliness: Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas. Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed.
• Resident Support: Provide meal assistance to residents as needed, including helping with meal setup and serving, and ensuring a positive dining experience.
• Food Safety: Follow all food safety protocols, including proper food storage, handling, and sanitation practices, to ensure food is safe for consumption.
• Inventory Support: Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies, checking inventory, and notifying the Dietary Manager of any shortages or supply needs.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with the dietary team to ensure the kitchen and dining areas run smoothly, assisting with food prep and meal service as directed.
• Resident Engagement: Assist in fulfilling special dietary requests and ensuring residents’ individual preferences and needs are met during meal times.
