Job summary

Amberwood Care Centre is seeking a Dietary Aide to join their team. The Dietary Aide is responsible for serving residents’ meals and cleaning routines for the dietary department.

Responsibilities include portion-controlled serving, assisting with cleaning, setting up meal trays, and supporting cooks with meal preparation. This role emphasizes sanitation, pace, and teamwork in a long-term care setting.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to read/understand resident tray cards.
• Able to keep up in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to learn to load and operate an industrial dishwasher within one week.
• Ability to follow sanitation processes and maintain cleanliness standards.

Responsibilities

• Serve food according to established portion control procedures.
• Assist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties in the dietary department.
• Clean tables, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, etc.
• Sweep and mop floors as directed.
• Carry soiled utensils to the wash area and return clean utensils to storage.
• Maintain clean, dry work areas and safe equipment.
• Set up meal trays and dining room as instructed.
• Assist cook in preparing meals and obtaining food supplies.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Amberwood Care Centre is seeking a Dietary Aide to join their team! The Dietary Aide is responsible for serving residents’ meals and cleaning routines for the dietary department.

Dietary Aide Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serves food in accordance with established portion control procedures
• Assists in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures
• Cleans tables, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, etc.
• Sweeps and mops floors as directed
• Carries soiled utensils, etc., to wash area
• Returns clean utensils to proper storage areas
• Washes and cleans utensils as directed
• Keeps work areas clean, dry and free of hazardous equipment, supplies, etc.
• Sets up meal trays, food carts, dining room, etc., as instructed
• Assists cook in preparing meals and obtaining food supplies for the following meal
• All other duties as assigned

Dietary Aide Skills and Abilities:

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
• Must be able to read/understand resident tray card
• Must be able to keep up in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to learn to load and operate an industrial diswasher within one week.
• Ability to follow sanitation process and maintain cleanliness standards

Dietary Aide Education and Experience:

• Experience operating an industrial dishwasher and the sanitation process of the kitchen, preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
• Experience in industrial food production preferred.
• Prior experience working in a long-term care facility a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells and temperatures, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required.
• Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
