Job summary

Citadel Healthcare is seeking a Dietary Aide to join our team. The role involves serving meals to residents, supporting the dietary department, and keeping work areas clean and sanitary. You will assist with meal setup, food preparation, and daily cleaning tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Prior experience in industrial dishwashing and long-term care facilities are a plus. HS diploma preferred but not required. This is a full-time position with opportunities for growth within Citadel Healthcare.

Qualifications

• Ability to read/write/speak English
• Able to read/understand resident tray card
• Experience in fast-paced kitchen environment preferred
• Experience with industrial dishwasher and sanitation process preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred, not required
• Experience in industrial dishwasher operations is an asset
• Experience in industrial food production is a plus
• Prior long-term care facility experience is advantageous

Responsibilities

• Serve meals to residents following established portion control procedures
• Assist with daily or scheduled cleaning duties in the dietary department
• Clean tables, meat blocks, refrigerators and freezers, etc.
• Sweep and mop floors as directed
• Transport soiled utensils to washing area and return clean items to storage
• Maintain clean, dry, hazard-free work areas
• Set up meal trays, carts, and dining room as instructed
• Assist cooks in meal preparation and in obtaining food supplies
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Dietary Aide Duties and Responsibilities

• Serves food in accordance with established portion control procedures
• Assists in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures
• Cleans tables, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, etc.
• Sweeps and mops floors as directed
• Carries soiled utensils, etc., to wash area
• Returns clean utensils to proper storage areas
• Washes and cleans utensils as directed
• Keeps work areas clean, dry and free of hazardous equipment, supplies, etc.
• Sets up meal trays, food carts, dining room, etc., as instructed
• Assists cook in preparing meals and obtaining food supplies for the following meal
• All other duties as assigned

Dietary Aide Skills and Abilities

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
• Must be able to read/understand resident tray card
• Must be able to keep up in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to learn to load and operate an industrial diswasher within one week.
• Ability to follow sanitation process and maintain cleanliness standards

Dietary Aide Education and Experience

• Experience operating an industrial dishwasher and the sanitation process of the kitchen, preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
• Experience in industrial food production preferred.
• Prior experience working in a long-term care facility a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells and temperatures, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required.
• Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
