Citadel of Sterling in Sterling, IL is seeking a Dietary Aide to join our dining team. You will serve meals to residents, assist with tray setup, and help with daily kitchen sanitation in a unionized long-term care setting.

The role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, follow sanitation procedures, and communicate in English. Prior kitchen or dishwasher experience is preferred; HS diploma is not required.

Job description

The Citadel of Sterling is seeking a Dietary Aide to join their team! The Dietary Aide is responsible for serving residents’ meals and cleaning routines for the dietary department. At this facility, this position is collectively bargained under the union.

Dietary Aide Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serves meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance on a timely basis.
• Serves food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
• Assists in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Sweeps and mops floors as directed.
• Washes and cleans utensils as directed.
• Sets up meal trays, food carts, dining room, etc., as instructed.
• All other duties as assigned.

Dietary Aide Qualifications and Skills:

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
• Must be able to keep up in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to follow sanitation process and maintain cleanliness standards

Dietary Aide Education and Experience:

• Experience operating an industrial dishwasher and the sanitation process of the kitchen, preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
• Experience in industrial food production preferred.
• Prior experience working in a long-term care facility a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells and temperatures, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required.
