Job summary

St. Bernard Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, part of Volare Health LLC, is seeking a kitchen/dietary aide to assist with food preparation, serving, and maintaining sanitary dining areas in a long-term care setting.

Qualified candidates hold a Food Handler's permit/ServSafe certification and can read and follow oral and written directions in English. We offer competitive wages, flexible scheduling, and comprehensive benefits. Drug screening and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Must pass drug screening, criminal background check, and reference inquiry.
• Ability to relate positively to residents, families and staff.
• Food Handler's permit/ServSafe certification as per state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist in food preparation, serving, and maintaining clean and sanitary kitchen and dining areas.
• Check plate and hot base lowerator temperatures and ensure proper heating.
• Ensure accurate serving portions and correct items on each tray.
• Use appropriate serving utensils and log temperatures.
• Maintain garnished trays and ensure cleanliness of silverware, cups, and dishes.
• Record any excess/shortage after tray-line and discuss with supervisor.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in food preparation, serving, and maintaining clean and sanitary conditions in the kitchen and dining areas.
• Check that plate and hot base lowerator are heated, steam table is properly heated.
• Ensure that accurate serving portions and food items are on each tray before loading to the food cart.
• Ensure that appropriate serving utensils are used; ensure that temperatures are within standards (all temperatures are logged and reviewed prior to tray-line).
• During the tray line, ensure that the trays are garnished, neatly arranged, silverware, cups, and dishes are clean and plate covers are dry.
• After tray-line, check and record excess/shortage preparation, discuss with the supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Food Handler's permit/ServSafe certification as per state requirements.
• Must have the ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions in English.
• Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents, families and to work cooperatively with other employees.
• Must pass drug screening, criminal background investigation and reference inquiry.
