Dietary Aide (Breakfast/PM)

Full‑time Regular Service Worker located in Sandy Spring, MD, US.

Salary: $17.66 to $17.80 per hour.

Work Hours: Weekdays and every other weekend, between 6:30am and 8pm.

Supervisor: Director of Dining Services.

Job Summary: Responsible for setting up the tray line, dining room, and providing service at specified times, including breakdown of dishes, preparation of foods, and maintaining cleanliness of equipment and workspace.

Responsibilities

• Turn on all equipment used on the tray line.
• Set up and serve the tray line (knowledge of diet therapy and how to make exchanges).
• Operate dish machine.
• Break down all dishes from nursing home and dining room.
• Maintain cleanliness of tray line, refrigerators, countertops and steam table.
• Thoroughly clean floors.
• Prepare desserts and salads.
• Assist cooks with food preparation.
• Complete other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
• Cook breakfast, lunch and dinner.
• Follow Corporate Compliance Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

• No prior training or experience needed.
• Basic food production skills.
• Ability to relate to the elderly in a caring manner.
• Must be able to accomplish all responsibilities without supervision after the training period and avoid injury to self or others.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English effectively.

Job Demands

• Moderate physical activity (walking, standing, lifting, bending).
• Occasional heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) and ability to stretch arms above head, bend to pick up objects, and endure cold temperatures in a walk‑in freezer.
• Work areas have good lighting and ventilation.
• High emotional demands due to complex and exact responsibilities, and frequent interaction with residents and staff.
• Possible exposure to infectious diseases; immunosuppressed employees should be aware of hazards.
