Dietary Aide Job Summary:

The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting residents in fulfilling specific dietary requirements to promote their health and wellbeing. Additionally, they assist the Dietary Manager in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Dietary Services Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, regulations, and facility policies to ensure quality food service and nutritional care.

Major Duties and Critical Tasks:

1. Preparing and cooking food dishes, delivering food to patients, and assisting kitchen staff in maintaining a clean, sanitary workplace.
2. Reviewing department policies, procedures, manuals, and position descriptions at least annually, participating in recommended updates to stay current with facility protocols.
3. Interpreting policies and procedures to personnel, patients/residents, visitors, and family members as necessary.
4. Preparing meals, snacks, and beverages following specific procedures.
5. Serving meals and ensuring food safety and hygiene procedures are followed at all times.
6. Taking inventory of kitchen supplies and food items.
7. Setting up and cleaning dining areas and assisting with kitchen maintenance.
8. Participating in educational programs on nutrition.

Required Education/Skills/Abilities:

Education: Must possess at minimum a high school diploma.

Experience: Previous experience as a Dietary Aide is preferred. Bonus experience includes training in cost control, food management, or diet therapy. Any combination of experience and training that provides the necessary skills and knowledge for a Dietary Aide in a skilled nursing facility.

Must have reliable transportation.
