Position Summary

The Dietary Aide performs a variety of unskilled duties while assisting in all areas of the kitchen. He/she is under the supervision of the Dietary Manager and/or Assistant Manager and reports to the Director of Dietary.

Qualifications

• Must be able to speak and follow simple oral directions.
• Must have reading and writing skills.
• Must cooperate and work well with other employees.
• Some knowledge of modified diets is required.
• Requires some knowledge of cooking.
• Food Handler's Certificate may be required.
• Willingness to perform simple, repetitive tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Stand and walk short distances most of the working day.
• Lift 50 to 60 pounds as needed.
• Handle dishes, glassware, pots, and pans; push food carts.
• Use kitchen equipment safely.
• Bend, stoop, squat, and twist frequently.
• Perform cleaning tasks such as mopping.
• Maintain mental alertness to perform job duties effectively.
• Respond to auditory and visual cues from patients and staff.
• Work safely around kitchen hazards and in various temperature environments.
• Ensure personal health and safety, avoiding medical conditions that could endanger oneself or others.
