Job summary

Valley Palms Care Center in North Hollywood, CA is urgently hiring a full-time Dietary Aide to support meal services for residents. You will assist with meal preparation, serve meals, maintain sanitation, and cooperate with dietary management and cooks to meet residents' dietary needs.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and basic English skills; some experience is helpful and on-the-job training is provided. The role may require occasional overtime and emergency responsiveness.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Dietician / Dietary Management and Cook as requested.
• Help with meal preparation in accordance with the dietary needs of the residents.
• Assist in serving meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
• Timely setting up of meal service and delivery of meal trays and food carts.
• Follow the established portion controls recommended.
• Adhere to sanitation and food safety guidelines during meal preparation and clean up.
• Keep worktables, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers clean.
• Sweep and mop floors.
• Dishwashing and cleaning of utensils.
• Return clean dishes and utensils to storage areas.
• Carry out of garbage.
• Dispose of food and waste per facility regulations.
• Obtain food supplies for the next meal.
• Follow safety regulations and precautions at all times.
• Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, or other hazardous materials to a supervisor.
• Adhere to all facility policies and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident care information.

Dietary Aide

Valley Palms Care Center 99-bed skilled nursing facility

located in the heart of North Hollywood, CA.

POSITION SUMMARY

The purpose of your job position is to provide assistance in all food functions in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards that govern the facility and as directed by Dietary or other management.

The Dietary Aide will treat each resident with kindness, dignity and respect. They will refer to each resident by their name. They will communicate clearly, empathetically, and effectively when speaking to residents, family members, visitors, all staff and governmental agencies. They will work cooperatively with all departments and multidisciplinary teams. They will demonstrate patience, initiative and willingness to assist residents that may be difficult or in discomfort. They will relate all pertinent information concerning a resident's condition to a charge nurse as required. They will be committed to always doing the right thing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assisting the Dietician / Dietary Management and Cook as requested

• Reporting any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, or other hazardous materials to a supervisor immediately

• Adhering to all facility policies and procedures of the facility

• Maintaining confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information

REQUIREMENTS

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to push, pull, move and or lift up to 25 lbs. to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 15 feet
