Dietary Aide
Job Description
The Dietary Aide performs designated work and cleaning routines for the Dietary Department and is accountable to the Dietary Manager. In the absence of the Dietary Manager, the Dietary Aide is accountable to the Cook.
Qualifications for a Dietary Aide:
- High School graduate and previous institutional dietary service experience is preferred.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow recipe directions, diet orders, tray cards, and work assignments.
- Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
- Numerical accountability for recipe preparation and measuring cleaning agents and chemicals; good motor coordination and manual dexterity for food preparation, serving, handling dishes, operating equipment, and cleaning.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including during emergencies; patience and tolerance towards staff, residents, and family members.
Duties of a Dietary Aide:
- Perform work routines using dietary utensils, supplies, and equipment as assigned.
- Assist in meal preparation and service.
- Meet scheduled meal and snack times.
- Follow federal and state regulations and departmental policies.
- Perform cleaning duties as scheduled.
- Assist in arranging tray cards, loading carts, and serving meals.
- Set up the dining room and serve residents.
- Wash and store dishes.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Report needs for supplies and equipment.
- Report damages, unsafe conditions, or pests.
- Assist in receiving and storing supplies.
- Understand and follow fire and disaster plans.
- Follow infection control policies.
- Treat residents with kindness, dignity, and respect.
- Report grievances and complaints.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance.
- Accept duties cooperatively.
- Ensure sanitation and safety standards.
