Job summary

Hickory Village is seeking a compassionate Dietary Aide to join our culinary team and help provide nutritious, high-quality meals to residents. You will assist with meal preparation, portioning, and serving according to dietary plans and resident preferences.

Join us to support sanitation, food safety, and inventory management while collaborating closely with the dietary team to ensure a positive dining experience for our residents. Prior food service experience is a plus, but not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to follow directions and work efficiently as part of a team.
• Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Previous experience in a food service role is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Meal Assistance: Help prepare, portion, and serve meals to residents according to dietary plans and special requests.
• Sanitation & Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas; wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed.
• Resident Support: Provide meal assistance during setup and serving for a positive dining experience.
• Food Safety: Follow all food safety protocols, storage, handling, and sanitation practices.
• Inventory Support: Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies; report shortages or needs to the Dietary Manager.
• Team Collaboration: Work with the dietary team to ensure smooth operations in kitchen and dining areas.
• Resident Engagement: Fulfill special dietary requests and respect residents' preferences during meals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Meal Assistance: Help prepare, portion, and serve meals to residents according to dietary plans and special requests.
• Sanitation & Cleanliness: Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas. Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed.
• Resident Support: Provide meal assistance to residents as needed, including helping with meal setup and serving, and ensuring a positive dining experience.
• Food Safety: Follow all food safety protocols, including proper food storage, handling, and sanitation practices, to ensure food is safe for consumption.
• Inventory Support: Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies, checking inventory, and notifying the Dietary Manager of any shortages or supply needs.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with the dietary team to ensure the kitchen and dining areas run smoothly, assisting with food prep and meal service as directed.
• Resident Engagement: Assist in fulfilling special dietary requests and ensuring residents' individual preferences and needs are met during meal times.
