Job summary

Hayesville House is seeking a friendly Dietary Aide to join our culinary team and help provide nutritious meals to residents. You will assist with meal service, maintain kitchen cleanliness, and support residents during dining to ensure a positive experience.

Ideal candidates have a High school diploma or equivalent, basic food safety knowledge, and a desire to work with the elderly. No previous experience required, but preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Previous experience in a food service role is preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to follow directions and work efficiently as part of a team.
  • Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Meal assistance: help prepare, portion, and serve meals to residents according to dietary plans and requests.
  • Sanitation & cleanliness: maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas; wash dishes and equipment.
  • Resident support: assist with meal setup and serving to ensure a positive dining experience.
  • Food safety: follow all food safety protocols, proper storage, handling and sanitation.
  • Inventory support: assist in receiving and storing food, check inventory, report shortages.
  • Team collaboration: work with the dietary team to ensure smooth kitchen and dining operations.
  • Resident engagement: fulfill special dietary requests and respect residents' preferences during meals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Meal Assistance: Help prepare, portion, and serve meals to residents according to dietary plans and special requests.
  • Sanitation & Cleanliness: Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas. Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed.
  • Resident Support: Provide meal assistance to residents as needed, including helping with meal setup and serving, and ensuring a positive dining experience.
  • Food Safety: Follow all food safety protocols, including proper food storage, handling, and sanitation practices, to ensure food is safe for consumption.
  • Inventory Support: Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies, checking inventory, and notifying the Dietary Manager of any shortages or supply needs.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the dietary team to ensure the kitchen and dining areas run smoothly, assisting with food prep and meal service as directed.
  • Resident Engagement: Assist in fulfilling special dietary requests and ensuring residents’ individual preferences and needs are met during meal times.
