Job summary

Aster Springs in Virginia is seeking a Dietary Care Specialist to prepare meals and snacks for clients in accordance with ASTER SPRINGS menus and regulatory guidelines. You will rotate stock, assist with documentation, and help maintain a clean kitchen.

This role requires CPR/First Aid certification or the ability to obtain within 30 days, a valid driver's license, and a collaborative approach with dietitians and staff. Equal opportunity employer, at-will employment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s preferred.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification or the ability to obtain within the first 30 days of hire.
• Meal preparation in like setting preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Continued education courses in dietetics and/or psychology or social work preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals for clients according to ASTER SPRINGS menus.
• Prepare snacks/shakes according to ASTER SPRINGS guidelines/menus.
• Rotate stored food by date.
• Follow Dietary cleaning schedule and document as completed in Dietary cleaning log.
• Provide emotional support and encouragement to clients as needed.
• Purchase groceries as needed.
• Coordinate with Dietitian on kitchen supply needs.
• Schedule shopping needs to accommodate meal/responsibility schedule.
• Collaborate with Dietitian any needed changes/issues with menus/meal prep.
• Able to communicate required cooking, defrosting, cleaning, and storage guidelines to accrediting bodies during inspections.
• Record all refrigerator/freezer temperatures per day.
• Communicate any equipment failure to Dietitian and Executive Director.
• Ensure meal delivery/snack/shake delivery follows program schedule.
• Record date on all left-over items and move to appropriate storage area.
• Ensure all items in all refrigerated storage areas are less than one week old/discard when older.
• ISJP123Education and Experience includes required certifications.
