Job summary

Freedom Village Bradenton is seeking a Dietary Aide to prepare and serve therapeutic diet trays to health center residents in accordance with posted menus. You will join a team dedicated to resident-centered care and high-quality hospitality.

The role requires standing most of the day, lifting up to 30 lbs, and working 6am-2pm in an assisted living facility. Previous nursing home food service experience is preferred and reliability is essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic.
• Previous nursing home food service experience preferred.
• Ability to plan and organize work and interpret diet orders.
• Empathy and cooperation with residents, staff, and families.

Responsibilities

• Prepares therapeutic desserts and salads as required.
• Serves meals in the health center.
• Sets up and breaks down dining room tables.
• Transports hot and cold foods to the health center.
• Transports all required nonfood items to and from the health center.
• Maintains station equipment and sanitary work area.
• Adheres to department dress code and hygiene.
• Attends in-service training and education sessions.
• Performs duties as assigned by supervisor.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Dietary Aide is responsible for preparing and serving therapeutic diet trays to health center residents in accordance with posted therapeutic diet menus.

Essential Job Duties:

• Prepares therapeutic desserts and salads as required.
• Serves meals in the health center.
• Sets up tables in the health center dining room and breaks down same after meal.
• Transports hot and cold foods to and from the health center.
• Transports all required nonfood items to and from the health center.

Other Duties:

• Maintains station equipment and work area in safe and sanitary condition.
• Maintains acceptable standards of personal hygiene and complies with department dress code.
• Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned.
• Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic. Ability to understand measurements and conversions.
• Previous experience in nursing home food service preferred.
• Ability to plan and organize work, set up trays and plates in accordance with diet orders and interpret specifications and standards.
• Ability to work in close cooperation with residents, guests, visitors, families, supervisor, and peers. Requires empathy for the elderly.
• Many roles in the community may require that we ask about your vaccination status. This could include MMR, chicken pox, hepatitis, flu, and COVID-19 vaccine status.
• Must have reliable means to get to work every day. (required)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Works indoors; must be able to stand/walk for 100% of the workday; must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. independently; must be able to push and pull tray/bus/transport carts weighing up to 50 lbs. independently; must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and balance frequently throughout the workday. May be exposed to extreme temperatures from the ovens and freezers. Must be able to see, hear, and speak. May be exposed to industrial cleaning chemicals, communicable diseases including the HIV and Hepatitis B virus, and offensive odors.
