Job summary

Freedom Behavioral Hospital of Bastrop is seeking an experienced dietary aide to join our team in Bastrop, LA. You will assist with stocking, preparation, serving and documenting meals, including special diets ordered by physicians and approved by dietitians.

You'll help ensure meals meet nutritional content and safety standards, monitor temperatures, and support cleanup and labeling. The role involves evenings, weekends and holiday shifts in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Current CPR/BLS certification; ServSafe certification preferred on hire.
• Basic knowledge of federal and state food safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in stocking, preparation, serving, presentation and documentation of food according to policies.
• Serve special diets as ordered by physician and approved by dietitian.
• Ensure meals meet physician orders and established menus.
• Deliver meals and snacks maintaining proper temperatures and regulatory guidelines.
• Assist cooks to maintain nutritional integrity of recipes and menus.
• Monitor temperatures of refrigerators and warming equipment; assist with labeling and dating.
• Support cleanliness of equipment and serving areas per procedures and standards.
• Assist patients with beverages and food choices; work cooperatively with the team.

Freedom Behavioral Hospital of Bastrop is Currently Seeking an Experienced and Motivated Dietary Aide to Join our Team!

The Freedom Team is committed to providing high-quality nutritional care that supports the health and recovery of our patients and residents across 3 hospitals. Our Dietary Department plays a vital role in patient care by preparing safe, nutritious, and well-balanced meals in accordance with clinical guidelines and dietary needs. We are supported by an energetic and motivated leadership team that is implementing positive changes and strengthening our food service operations. We value teamwork, reliability, and a strong commitment to quality and safety in every meal we serve.

Position Summary:

• Assist in stocking, preparation, serving, presentation, and documentation of the food according to established policies and procedures
• Serve special diets when applicable as ordered by the physician and approved by the dietitian
• Ensure patients receive the appropriate food according to physician order and menus established
• Ensure that any meals being delivered to and from FBH Bastrop are properly placed in the warming containers and food temperatures are within regulatory guidelines when served on-site and/or when departing
• Assist cooks in ensuring recipes maintain integrity with the nutritional content designated on the menu
• Deliver snacks or other appropriate nutritional needs for patients when applicable
• Assist in monitoring the temperature of the refrigerators, warming cart and other equipment used in the dining rooms
• Assist in labeling/dating of items delivered and stocked prior to prep.
• Assist with cleanliness of equipment and serving area according to procedures and regulatory standards
• Assist patients with beverages and food choices, when applicable
• Works cooperatively with other members of the multidisciplinary team and contributes to a positive work environment.
• Participates in rotation schedule of evenings, weekend, and holidays
• Attend all staff meetings and training as requested by supervisor
• Attend daily shift report when reporting to duty
• Receive and participate in the hospital’s quality improvement initiatives when applicable
• Serve on projects as delegated

Preferred knowledge, skills, and/or experience required:

Education:

• High school or the equivalency is preferred.

License:

• Current CPR/BLS certification through the American Heart Association. (Will provide service or renewal if needed)
• "ServSafe" certification is preferred upon hire. (Will provide service or renewal if needed)

Experience:

• Basic knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding food preparation and serving of food.
