The Food and Nutritional Aide provides assistance in all food functions as directed/instructed and in accordance with established food policies and procedures. The Food and Nutritional Aide must be able and willing to work flexible hours, such as during emergencies, and be patient and tolerant toward staff, residents, and family members. Nutrition service experience is preferred; long-term care experience is a plus. Multiple shifts available; hours and pay will be discussed at the interview.
Major Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform work routines using dietary utensils, supplies, and equipment as assigned by the Nutrition Manager.
- Assist the cook in meal preparation and service.
- Meet scheduled meal and snack times.
- Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties.
- Assist in arranging tray cards, loading food carts, and serving meals.
- Set up the dining room and serve residents.
- Wash and store dishes.
- Report supply or equipment needs, damages, unsafe conditions, or breeding pests.
- Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies.
- Follow safety, infection control, fire, and disaster procedures.
- Understand and follow federal, state, and facility rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information and handle sensitive data ethically.
- Perform other duties or assignments as directed by the Director.
- Participate in ongoing education related to LTC and job responsibilities.
- Engage in QAPI efforts, including attending training, supporting initiatives, and communicating improvements or barriers.
- Support organizational improvement ideas and initiatives.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Work in various areas of the facility, including office and resident areas.
- Handle frequent interruptions and move intermittently during shifts.
- Speak and write English clearly.
- Manage mental and emotional stress effectively.
- Possess adequate sight/hearing or use prosthetics to meet job needs.
- Work independently, with flexibility, integrity, and effectiveness with residents and staff.
- Meet health requirements, including a medical exam.
- Relate well with ill, disabled, elderly, and sometimes hostile individuals.
- Push, pull, lift a minimum of 25 pounds, and carry up to 50 pounds over 50 feet.
- Assist in evacuations during emergencies if necessary.
