Job summary

North Westchester Restorative Therapy and Nursing is seeking a Diet Tech to join the team under the supervision of the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). The role involves conducting nutrition screenings, participating in the NCP, and developing nutrition interventions with documentation of data and patient progress.

The position requires a Licensed Diet Tech or a bachelor’s degree in Dietetics or Food and Nutrition; working knowledge of Diet tech is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nutrition screenings.
• Participate in the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) as directed by the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), including nutrition assessment activities.
• Develop and implement nutrition interventions and plans of care by documenting medical, food, and nutrition-related data.
• Provide individualized and group nutrition education.
• Monitor residents’ intake of meals, snacks, and medical foods.
• Contribute to evaluation of resident progress and recommend revisions to care plans when indicated.
• Participate in interdisciplinary care plan meetings and represent the RDN when appropriate.
• Complete assigned MDS documentation and RAP summaries.
• Monitor the quality and accuracy of food served to residents.
• Participate in QAPI activities as assigned.
• Maintain professional competency and continuing development of skills required for practice.

Education

Primary Responsibilities

• Conductnutrition screenings.
• Participatein the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) as directed by the RegisteredDietitian Nutritionist (RDN), including nutrition assessment activities.
• Developand implement nutrition interventions and plans of care by:

Documenting medical, food, and nutrition-related data.

Providing individualized and group nutrition education.

Monitoring residents’ intake of meals, snacks, and medicalfoods.

Contributing to evaluation of resident progress andrecommending revisions to care plans when indicated.

• Participatein interdisciplinary care plan meetings and represent the RDN whenappropriate.
• Completeassigned Minimum Data Set (MDS) documentation and Resident AssessmentProtocol (RAP) summaries.
• Monitorthe quality and accuracy of food served to residents.
• Participatein Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities asassigned.
• Maintainprofessional competency and continuing development of skills required forpractice.
• Meetproductivity standards and demonstrate effective time management and taskprioritization.
• Usedepartment resources responsibly and efficiently.
• Answertelephones and communicate diet changes, meal changes, complaints, foodallergies, and patient discharges to kitchen staff and/or the Food ServiceDirector (FSD).
• Participatein food service tray-line production and ensure meal tray accuracy.
• Underthe supervision of the dietitian, assist with training and orienting newemployees to department procedures, tray-line operations, and diet officefunctions.
• Assistpatients/residents with completing special selective menus.
• Assistwith menu development and planning.

Requirements:

Licensed Diet Tech or bachelor’s degree in Dietetics or Foodand Nutrition

Working knowledge of Diet tech, a plus

Job type: Full-Time including weekends
Salary: $28/hr
