• Obtains and evaluates dietary histories of individuals.
• Identifies patients at high nutrition risk and refers them.
• Provides basic medical nutrition therapy to low risk patients.

Responsibilities

• Assists in screening patients at nutritional risk.
• Under supervision, modifies daily menus in accordance with patient’s diet prescription, implements nutrition care plan, and provides consultation to patient and family as directed.
• Documents patient’s nutritional screening/assessment information.
• With Manager of Nutrition and Dietetics, manages and edits CBORD menu system for site.
• Answers telephones and relays information to kitchen staff concerning diet changes, meal changes, complaints, food allergies, or patient discharge.
• Participates in food service tray‑line production and ensures patient meal tray accuracy.
• Under dietitian’s supervision, participates in training and orienting of new employees to the department, tray line, and diet office.
• Screen patients admitted to assigned units to determine nutrition risk(s).
• Obtains and evaluates dietary histories of individuals.
• Identifies patients at high nutrition risk and refers them to the dietitian as appropriate.
• Under dietitian’s supervision, provides basic medical nutrition therapy to low risk patients.
• Assists patients in completing special selective menus.
• Assists dietitians in food service monitoring and planning.
• Performs related duties as required.
