Job summary

VALLEY PALMS CARE CENTER is seeking a dedicated Food Service Worker to prepare meals in accordance with federal, state, and local standards under the Dietary Department. You will work with a Dietitian to ensure menus meet residents' nutritional needs and oversee sanitary food handling and timely service.

The role requires at least 1 year in nursing facility or hospital food service, the ability to cook in large quantities, and strong English reading/writing skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year experience in food services for nursing facility or hospital
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
• Must be able to follow oral and written instructions

Responsibilities

• Work with the Dietician to ensure diet is in accordance with residents' nutritional needs
• Review menus prior to food preparation
• Handle food in a sanitary manner
• Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance
• Serve food according to established portion control recommended
• Inspect special diet trays to confirm the correct diet is served to the resident
• Ensure all meals are served on time, including snacks
• Coordinate food service with other departments
• Avoid food wastes
• Maintain food service equipment
• Adhere to sanitation and food safety guidelines during meal preparation and cleanup
• Keep worktables and equipment clean
• Dispose of food and waste per facility regulations
• Obtain food supplies for the next meal
• Follow safety regulations at all times
• Adhere to facility policies and confidentiality rules
