Job summary

PIH Health is seeking a Diet Clerk to support nutritional care by processing diet orders, coordinating patient menu selections via CBord, and adjusting menus to meet physician orders. You will check tray line accuracy against orders and communicate with care teams to ensure high-quality patient food service.

The role requires attention to dietary restrictions (renal, dysphagia, cardiac, sodium control, etc.), strong basic math, and good English reading/writing skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• English reading/writing and basic math skills required.
• Experience in hospital diet office preferred; education may substitute for experience.
• Knowledge of modified diets required (Renal, Dysphagia, Cardiac, Sodium Controlled, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Process diet orders and changes accurately.
• Obtain patient menu selections via CBord and adjust as needed to meet physician orders.
• Check tray line accuracy against patient orders and diet restrictions.

Job description

The Diet Clerk functions as support in the nutritional care of patients. The primary responsibilities are processing of diet orders, obtaining patient’s menu selection via CBord computer system and correcting those menus to ensure selections meet physician-prescribed diet order, checking tray line for accuracy to patient menu selection and prescribed physician diet order, and communicating effectively to ensure high quality food service to patients.

Required Experience

• High school diploma or G.E.D. required
• Must be able to speak, write and read English and do simple math
• Minimum 6 months experience working in hospital diet office. Knowledge of modified diets required ( Renal, Dysphagia, Controlled Carbohydrate, Cardiac, Sodium Controlled, etc). Education ( Completion of college level classes in diet therapy, nutrition through the life cycle, nutrition, etc) may be substituted for experience.
• Able to process diet orders, tube feedings, diet changes and NPO orders accurately. Minimum 6 months experience checking trayline to ensure meal trays meet prescribed diet order. Education (Completion of college level classes in diet therapy, nutrition through the life cycle, nutrition, etc) may be substituted for experience).
• Intermediate computer skills required - prior experience working with Computrition, CBord or any other computerized diet office system helpful.
