Job summary

Hooker Creek is seeking a skilled Truck Shop Mechanic to maintain and repair a fleet of trucks and pickups across our Central Oregon operations. This hands-on role requires strong diagnostic skills, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced shop environment.

You will diagnose and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, and hydraulics, perform preventive maintenance, and document all work accurately.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of hands-on diesel mechanic experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of truck systems including electrical, air, hydraulic, and drivetrain components.
  • Experience using diagnostic software and engine analysis tools.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, service, and repair trucks and pickups, including diesel engines.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, engine computer systems, and wiring.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on suspensions, drivetrains, air brake systems, and hydraulics.
  • Use computer-based diagnostic tools to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
  • Complete accurate repair orders and properly document all work performed.
  • Maintain and organize shop tools, equipment, and workspace.
  • Monitor parts inventory and communicate needs to the supervisor.
  • Follow all safety procedures and report any safety concerns immediately.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and assist with complex repairs as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, drivers, and team members regarding equipment status.
