Job summary

Meridian Waste in Greer, SC is seeking an experienced fleet mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of commercial waste trucks and support equipment.

This is a full-time, day-shift position with a 6:00 AM–6:00 PM schedule, Monday through Friday, offering stability and growth within a local, hands-on maintenance team.

You will diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and brake systems, perform preventive maintenance, review DVIRs, and ensure safe return to service.

Qualifications

• Professional mechanical experience with diesel trucks or heavy equipment.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot and repair common mechanical problems.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing brake, air, electrical, steering, suspension, cooling, and related systems.
• Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and hand/power tools.
• Must meet pre-employment MVR check; CDL not required.

Responsibilities

• Support morning fleet launch; troubleshoot and repair issues to get trucks into service.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, air, and other truck problems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and vehicle inspections.
• Review DVIRs and complete repairs.
• Repair air brake systems and related components.
• Document inspections, diagnosis, and repairs performed.
